My new reality

On our way! Or are we? Our retirement adventure begins, though we await roadside assistance halfway to our destination.  After near disaster while Greg was moving last week, we hired a Uhaul trailer, stuffed to the gills ala the Jed Clampett’s of ‘Beverly Hillbillies’ fame.  Yes, we are crazy, as everyone knows.  Certainly we can move ourselves, cripes, we’ve built the house we are moving to, on a hillside overlooking beautiful Upper Saranac Lake in the Adirondack Mountains of NYS.  Greg is anxious to get retirement ‘started’, as he’s been working full-time on the move since leaving his 32 year career at Novartis last month.  The trailer wheel rim is hot, so we want to make sure we can move on safely. Somewhere buried in my car are the fire extinguishers, along with my jewelry case, propane tanks, an old school typing table used as a nightstand/sewing table, cleaning supplies, my “day one” box (thanks Tenney S. for the suggestion!), all the lovely gifts our dear friends sent us off with and a bottle of 1979 Chateau La Fitte Bordeaux gifted to me by my colleagues (thank you John M.!) at Novartis when I left there almost 13 years ago for AZ, from whence I have just retired.  The question is, assuming we get there, what will this wine taste like tonight as we celebrate this unbelievable, wonderful, new chapter of our lives?
