Tina and I finished our Erie Canal bike tour today, 200 miles in 4 days. I can’t believe we did this, hills (yes, there were hills), camping, 2 flat tires, and all. Would I do 4 additional days, adding another 200 miles? Nah. I’m looking forward to a private shower and a real bed. The best part was meeting fabulous people, now new friends, and seeing smiling faces everyday. The ride itself was doable, 40-60 miles each day. The whole organization from support staff to volunteers were amazing, and I guess I’d add the chairman of PTNY was pretty cool (Joe, if you read this, it means you. And your brother Paul. And I’ll park my damn bike wherever I want!). The scenery was incredible and most towns we rode through had welcoming committees under tents, serving baked goods and hot dogs and water, so proud to share their history and town with us. It’s so cool to see small town America roll out the red carpet. I’d recommend this trip to anyone, at any biking level. Check it out!
