Gotta love technology and how our lives are easier for it. To most, ‘technology’ translates to AI, iPhones, NGS, driverless cars, drone delivery and the like. What’s making my life easier these days, however, are a pressure washer and a log splitter. Earlier this summer I spent a few days hand scrubbing the multitude of moss covered stairs that is our approach to the lakeside. In just a few hours with a pressure washer I cleaned 3 decks and railings. My apologies and gratitude go out to my sister Theresa, who hand sanded the cedar railings on our deck; she’d love a pressure washer as well. Everything now is ‘spic and span’ (is this trademarked?) and cleaned and stained and ready for winter. I’m asking Santa for a 3200psi power washer!
Today we spent the early part of the morning running errands in town, a ‘date’ with my husband, as it were. You know, the usual: taking trash to the dump, hitting up the hardware store, and then picking up hand-made frycakes at the only combined laundry mat/gift shop/donut shop I know of. Upon our return, Greg started the log splitter. Who would miss the opportunity to split wood, the activity that combines exquisitely timed teamwork and and a decent arm and leg workout with the dangers of flying wood chips and possible loss of fingers? I love our log splitter, grateful for the workout and the appropriately sized logs, but also because it saves us from extreme backbreaking axe work. And I get to drive the tractor to deliver the fragrant split logs to the wood pile, combining the results of our efforts with those from earlier log splitting sessions with friends and family. Thanks everyone! I’m looking forward to warm fall/winter nights by the woodburning stove. That said, this late in September we’ve had our warmest weather of the year. Never fear, for WINTER IS COMING!!!
(p.s. we’re on season 3 of GOT…)
