Greg wanted to contribute to the retirement blog content and submitted this question: How often should he shave? We live in the woods, barely seeing anyone else besides each other for most days. When the summer season kicks in there will be plenty of new faces but for now it’s just us and a few neighbors who might pass by on the their 4 wheelers or in their pickups or John Deere excavators (no lie). We are becoming those people who stop and chat with strangers for any length of time on random topics or on the weather which everyone loves to mention. Everywhere I’ve lived everyone comments on the weather and it’s changeability. ‘Don’t like the weather, wait 15 minutes’ blah blah blah is the old chestnut owned by NO ONE. Weather is a topic perfectly suited for the one-up-manship game. And every weather app has consumed more than enough of my life as I search for the forecast that best suits my need. Enough! Assume it’s going to rain/snow/sleet and be surprised and grateful for sunshine and warmth. (Indeed I jinxed myself: It’s May 8 and we are having snow showers today).
Back to the ‘big decision’ at hand. Greg spends most of his time working on finishing his dream workshop, a 3 story garage/workshop/extra storage space across the ‘road’ from the house. We began construction 2 years ago anticipating retirement that came a little faster than expected (is it me or is time going by so fast?) I stroll over occasionally to check on him, hoping that he has most of the insulation done because who loves insulating buildings? I’d rather not get roped in except for those spray cans of foam which are messy but so cool to watch as the foam expands over 2x it’s volume (but it takes longer than you think so that’s why my spray foaming results in monstrous bulbous extrusions that need to be shaved off.) Just to back up, more thanks go out to family and friends on this build because everyone thought they were done helping us once the house/stairs/dock/hot tub installation were complete. They don’t know Greg very well do they? We are ‘outsourcing’ the sheetrock and plastering as an anniversary gift to ourselves. Soon the building will be ready for occupancy, which is a good thing because we still have a storage unit filled with furniture and Greg’s woodworking tools.
I digress. Since Greg and I don’t see a lot of people throughout the day, if any, the question is ‘how often should he shave?’ He thinks the rugged look is good, I agree, and the shaving has basically come to a full stop. For both of us. So do give us a heads up if you are going to visit so we can spend some time attending to our toilette.
