Saturday Snow

Not much planned for today: setting up my desk and sending out some notes. So many wonderful friends surprised me with lovely retirement gifts, very unexpected and all so thoughtful! I’m still riding the high from the kind gestures and lovely sendoff lunches/dinners/drinks.  Thank you all, my dear friends!

We got about 3 inches of snow last night.  It’s beautiful and serene.  Long range forecasts suggest this may be the last snow of this winter/spring.  Greg and I took a walk and then later I took a solo hike.  There is still enough snow left from the 3 or 4 feet that fell a few weeks ago that I got a good workout in, and also a few photos too!

I should mention that Greg surprised me with a gift of a new tablet recently which is coming in quite handy for this blogging thing.  I added a keyboard and all the accoutrement that keep the tablet safe from my clumsy hands.  My friend Jill made me an administrator of a neighborhood facebook group so I can add photos and comments about the locale since most residents won’t be here until mid-May at the earliest.  It’s the most responsibility I care to handle for now.

Tomorrow I leave for Buffalo by way of Rochester where I will visit my lovely sister-in-laws Tina and Carol, and Greg’s brothers Bob and Richie, who are also lovely but in a manly way.  And then on to see my family and my mom.  Greg will head east to pick up the now-repaired trailer and a few things we left at home; he’ll head back here and I’ll see him for Easter weekend.  Hopefully he can fend for himself; there’s plenty of peanut butter and some meals I made for him; otherwise his new BFF Tara at the brewery in Tupper Lake can expect some company again.
