Day 2!

Hey! Hi! You’re back! Likely you are interested to find out either: did we make it safely to the house, or, how was that wine? Two great questions. We made it safely out of the rest stop to our new home. Jeremy from the service center in Chicopee determined that yes, indeed, the brake on the one wheel out of 4 on the trailer was shot, so it was disconnected and we continued on our way. It made me think how Greg and I operate, riding along through life with only 75% brakes applied and 25% loose. More careful than not, with a little bit of danger. Unless you’ve seen us building our houses, then you’d realize Greg has no brakes and I am the one overcompensating on safety. We made it to the house, me driving my CRV making the foray down the 4 mile dirt/thawing/heaving/mudslick road, scouting for Greg hauling the aforementioned fully loaded trailer. We made it in, and spent the evening unpacking boxes left from previous visits. Greg also started working on the wiring for the highly anticipated internet installation. Note: we are sitting at the Big Tupper Brewery with free wifi, the sole customers at 3:30 in the afternoon on a Wednesday, after spending the day unloading the trailer and cars. Tara, the manager, has offered to give us the happy hour special even though we’re 30 minutes early. And, to be fair, this isn’t dinner but late lunch, with beer(s). We’re not THAT old yet.
Ok, to the wine. Feeling that this was a special occasion, I opened the bottle. THEN, I checked for information. Apparently the average price is $600.00! After the initial shock, I poured a glass and took a sip. Not bad, but not amazing. I’m not the typical “champagne taste on a beer budget’ kind of girl, since I actually like both champagne and beer. But I do like wine, and this was not anything to ‘write home about’. In fact, this past summer we celebrated my brother-in-law Bob’s 5 year cancer free anniversary with a bottle of Cristal. Greg pronounced his taste reaction with the memorable comment “it doesn’t suck”. So classy, honey.
So that is how it is going today. I did mention that Greg had a near disaster last week when hauling wood upstate with our trailer. The axle snapped and the tire exploded just outside of Lee, the SAME RESTSTOP this blog originated from. After the initial panic, Greg hired a Uhaul, had the trailer towed away and continued his delivery. Anyway, he’s going back to Lee, MA later this week to pick up the repaired trailer. The repair shop insists on cash payment, so we are hitting the ATM’S every day. And a brewery or two along the way.
Since internet won’t be installed until Friday, I may not be posting anytime soon, unless we go out again for beer or cash. And by then I’ll figure out this whole blogging thing. Well, maybe.  Thanks for ‘listening’.
